Star Parties

Second Friday (Falling) Star Party: Tonight (Friday, September 9, 2011) at 9pm in Washington Street Park. Right now the weather doesn’t look good and I will try to call it mid-afternoon. UPDATE, 4:55pm. Looks like it might clear, though the forecast says it will go the other way. Look up at 9pm. If it’s almost entirely clear, we’re on. If it looks like a quilt of clouds and holes of clear sky, we’re not. Amateur astronomers call these “sucker holes”. We don’t want to fall for them.

  2. Hi Doug, my family would LOVE to host a Star Party at our winery. We are just far enough outside the city of Geneva that light pollution is minimal! Send me an email at brendan@zugibevineyards.com I noticed that July is “TBA”!!!

      Brendan,
Thanks for offering…July is TBA because I won’t be here and I was trying to find someone else to facilitate it. I’ll be in Utah, teaching astronomy at Capitol Reef National Park. But let’s talk when I get back and we can put something together. Cheers!
