Second Friday (Falling) Star Party: Tonight (Friday, September 9, 2011) at 9pm in Washington Street Park. Right now the weather doesn’t look good and I will try to call it mid-afternoon. UPDATE, 4:55pm. Looks like it might clear, though the forecast says it will go the other way. Look up at 9pm. If it’s almost entirely clear, we’re on. If it looks like a quilt of clouds and holes of clear sky, we’re not. Amateur astronomers call these “sucker holes”. We don’t want to fall for them.

About Punkastronomy
Punkastronomy was created out of the idea that our view of space from earth, our window to the rest of the universe, is a precious and threatened commodity, and a valuable medicine that can, and should, help shift our human perspective to a more reasonable and universal condition. Punkastronomy is about my efforts to bring knowledge and appreciation for the universe to as many people as I can, and about my own journey into the darkness in search of understanding.-

/ June 14, 2011Hi Doug, my family would LOVE to host a Star Party at our winery. We are just far enough outside the city of Geneva that light pollution is minimal! Send me an email at brendan@zugibevineyards.com I noticed that July is “TBA”!!!

/ June 14, 2011Brendan,
Thanks for offering…July is TBA because I won’t be here and I was trying to find someone else to facilitate it. I’ll be in Utah, teaching astronomy at Capitol Reef National Park. But let’s talk when I get back and we can put something together. Cheers!
